Actually it was pretty much a cruise this week. Work was all pretty good jobs. Some days your the bug and some days your the windshield. This week I was the windshield!
I only saw 1 or 2 whales the whole week. Weird. Last week every day we saw 3 to 10 per day. I guess they went to Maui for the weekend. lol.
Not to much going on this week in Kona. We had the weekly visit of Pride of Aloha and Pride of America cruise ships on their usual days. There was a huge ship in the bay today called the Amsterdam. I don't have any details. No time to research today. Had to work you know. Speaking of work, I did Bernie Byrnes truck. He's a rock wall builder. Now there's a HARD job. When I start thinking my life's hard I just think about stacking rocks in the Kona sun all day long. No thanks. I'm not tough enough. Bernie does beautiful work. His company Tamarock Masonary built my wall along side the house. They did a very nice job.
I emailed all my friends that are online asking for their favorite thing to do on the Kona side of the island. What I should have emphasized was I meant from Hawi to South Point = Kona side in my mind.
The first answer I got back was don't go to Kona, the traffic stinks. I should have explained that I meant Hawi to South Point. Unfortunately she's right. We have a lot more cars than we have roads right now. Plus there is a lot of road construction underway on a couple of major thorough fares. Mix in the snow bird population and it makes getting from point "A" to point "B" a challenge sometimes.
Speaking of traffic since I've decided to go down that slippery slope... If you come from a small town. You're not going to like our traffic. If you're from a major metropolitan city you're going to say "what traffic". I talk to all kinds of folks on a daily basis and that seems to be the average feeling from them. Me? I go places in off peak hours so it's no big deal. If I had a real job and had to sit in traffic to get to work, I'd probably move. Where? I have no idea. Chances are I'd figure out a way to make it work. I love Kona.
Aloha and happy weekend!
