I'm a newcomer to the Big Island forum and have honestly never been west of Vegas, though I do currently live on an island off the Carolina Coast. Just curious how the beaches would compare? I've attached a picture of my home stretch of sand.

 We don't have a lot of beaches

Welcome to the forum.

Most of the beaches on this island are sprinkled with big rocks, but there are a few that are without rocks and have nice fine sand. Hapuna Beach comes to mind.
