Pololu Valley

by Joe
(Kona )

Pololu Valley is located at the end of Highway 270 at the north end of the island.

The view from the lookout is spectacular. From Kona it takes about an hour and half drive to reach the lookout .

You can hike down into the valley to the black sand beach, but you need to be in good condition. It takes about a half hour each way. There are no concessions in the valley so make sure you bring water with you.

In the Big Island 5 Day Video Tour you will see video of Hawi and Keaau along the way to the lookout and of course the view from the lookout into Pololu.
