Paul Allen's Super Yacht in Kailua Bay

by Joe
(Kona)

OK, it's raining and I'm not waiting for a good picture... who knows the yacht may not be here in the morning.

This baby came cruising into Kona this evening. At first from a far I thought it was a cruise ship as it came out of the fog I could see it was smaller but none the less it was huge. Notice the ship dwarfing the BodyGlove boat as it passes.

You can't tell in the photo but there is a helicopter on the back of the ship. I Googled the name on the fantail "Octopus" found out this belongs to Paul Allen the co founder of Microsoft. How much does it cost you ask? $200 million. You can read more about it at: More stats about this super yacht

It is unbelievable. James Bond wished he had a ship like this. Submarine... helicopter...Navy Seal crew. No kidding. Go read the link above.

Glad I got the photo...spy ship is gone now
by: Joe

Yep, woke up this morning hoping to get a good photo of the Octopus, even the name sounds like James Bond...

But no luck, it disappeared in the early morning before daylight just as suddenly as it appeared in the twilight the night before.

Around 8PM last they fired up the helicopter and it looked like they were taking guests for a short ride and then returning to the ship, landing and then taking new guests for a ride, repeat for about 20 minutes. It was very cool.

So all I got to show is this one lousy photo... but it was here as proven by the image...
