Mary Sent Me Cool Jackson Chameleon Pics

I asked Mary if I could quote an email she sent me about these photos and she agreed.

We are very lucky in Hawaii to be able to see Jackson's chameleons in the wild.
This is one of the only places on the planet to see them besides their place of origin, Mt. Kenya Africa.
They are at this elevation and the conditions are perfect for them. We watch them every day and have taken over
6000 photos and my book is coming out in February.

Thanks again for all your good service. I will try to post a slide show or something when I have time.
We are putting up the town tree today and so much to do right now. I do take pictures first thing in the morning every day
like a ritual. I love the Jackson's. They are living art.

Thanks for sharing
by: Joe

Cool, thanks Mary. As far as links go, regular contributors get to post their links.

When I have time I make them live. But people can always copy and paste them.

If I get a post from someone who's never posted here before and it smells of spam, I probably won't permit the link.

Jackson's chameleons
by: Mary Lovein

They were named after Sir Frederick Jackson (1860-1938), thus the apostrophe. Our home is at 1500 ft. elevation which is nearly idyllic conditions for the Jackson's chameleons. These arboreal creatures are very hard to spot in the trees and foliage, except every now and then one can be seen crossing the road. I have a good viewing area of habitat where I can observe them without disturbing them. I use a telephoto lens and have recorded births, hunting for prey, courting behavior and many other fascinating glimpses into their very private and magical lives. Chameleons in the Garden will be out in February. I have created this book to share what I have learned and seen and is appropriate for all ages who are interested in hidden Hawaii wildlife. See:

Joe, is it ok to post links to websites?
Best wishes and aloha,

I've never seen these guys here before.

I live close to the ocean and have never seen chameleons here before. Guess I should venture out more often.
