Live Hawaii Webcam

On the live Hawaii webcam you will see the Pride of America cruise ship on a weekly basis here in Kona. Sometimes there are other cruise ships here.

The camera is broke. I just don’t have the time to devote to getting it repaired right now. Maybe someday. But don’t hold your breathe.

Webcam shuts off at dark and comes on at sun up. Hawaii time. If it’s not working, that means it’s dark here. Come back later.

When the whales are here you will see them anywhere on the horizen. If you’re looking at the ocean and see what appears to be a puff of smoke on the horizen, you’ve just seen a whale spout.

In late April the whales migrate back to Alaska. Dolphins are seen year round. Morning time is usally the best time to see them. I usually see dolphins straight out in front of our house within a couple hundred yards of the shorline.

What you’re seeing on the Live Hawaii webcam is the view from our lanai. To the right just over Kailua Bay you will see a small beach with some homes. That’s Kona Bay Estates.

To the right is the Kailua Pier that you can’t see. That’s where the world famous Ironman race is started. You will be able to watch the swim right here live on the Hawaii webcam, the turn around is just to the left front of our house.

Just before Kona Bay Estates on this side of the bay is the Royal Kona Resort, that’s the kind of gold looking building with 6 stories that you can see to your right.

The massive condo complex across the street is Alii Cove. Across from there is a nice little beach called Honl’s. That’s where the boogie board was invented. Actually if the cruise ship is here look at the tree line at the coast below the ship, that’s where Honl’s is.

Looking straight out over the house with 2 telephone poles close together you are likely to see dolphins in the mornings. Usually within a 100 yards of the shoreline.

Looking south you see Kona Sea Ridge Villas condos, then if you zoom the cam to the max you’ll see the Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Spa, formally known as the Kona Surf Hotel. This is site of the world famous Manta Ray night dives.

Tropical Flowers

If you point the webcam down in the garden you will see lots of tropical flowers, red, yellow and pink Hibiscus. Yellow is the state flower.

The garden also has tea leaf, heliconia which is often mistaken for bird of paradise. The ground cover towards the sidewalk is cuphea.

The only thing missing is plumeria, eventually we’ll get around to adding it.

Last but not least
UFO para sail, Atlantis submarine, these are all seen on the live Hawaii webcam on a regular basis. Whales are seen in the winter months from late December to early April.

The UFO para sail and the Atlantis submarine run 7 days a week.

  1. I’m sorry the webcam is broken. I miss it. You sound a bit down and I hope things are all right. Sending good wishes to you and your family…and your lovely home.

    • Thanks Hilde. I’ve been working on the website its self for weeks and eventually I’ll do something about the webcam. Usually it’s a day of my life to make that thing work when it’s broke and I just haven’t had the time. But this time it’s more serious, the cam has to go to the mainland for repairs.

      • Sorry to hear that. Wishing you luck in getting it fixed. I enjoyed your “So you want to live in Hawaii” article. Very informative and amusing as well. I wonder how many people have actually stopped and done some serious soul searching before selling their Mainland homes and moving west! I love Hawaii, but New Jersey has a lot to offer, too, so I’m staying put and visiting Hawaii whenever possible. Thanks again for providing this web site.

        • Thanks Hilde. I’m glad you like my moving article, I was in the “shocking truth” mode when I wrote it. I didn’t want to write an article that made it sound like it’s no big deal to move here. It is a big deal for most people. It’s not the same as being on vacation.

          • No, I’m sure it’s quite an adjustment. I love visiting Hawaii, but at my age it would be hard to adjust to such a different lifestyle. And I know my husband would have major difficulty in adapting. And so would my cat! LOL. As for the plumeria, it’s my favorite tropical flower. I bought one of those USDA-approved “sticks” of plumeria on a couple of occasions and have successfully brought them to flower (mostly indoors) in NJ. Hoping now to get a Bird of Paradise to flower…we keep them indoors until the weather warms up and bring them back inside in the fall. I think this year I’ll plant all of them to see how well they do and then re-pot them and bring them inside. Wish me luck! Have a good day!

      • Hey Joe hope all is well. Sure do miss the cam.

  2. Oh, I’m sorry((
I would like to see Kailua online. I’m from Russia, and I have never been to Hawaii…
