Kona Shore Diving is easy

Write Your Own Review of Kona Shore Diving

Kona shore diving is some of the best in the world.

Located about a half mile before Kahaluu Beach Park is a really good shore dive location.

It's called mile marker 4. Why? Because it's located at the 4 mile marker on Alii Dr.

The best place to park is right about where I was standing when I took the above photo.

You can gear up right there and then it's about 100 feet to the water.

The best entry is on the right side of the bay, there is a small sandy area that makes a pretty easy entry/exit spot.

Snorkel out about 100 yards and then drop down and head south towards the palm trees in the picture.

That is where you will find all the cool stuff to see. One thing, only do this dive when there is no surf or else you'll get pounded.

I'd have to say this is one of the easiest shore dives on the Kona side.

Only surpassed by Mahukona which is located up Hwy. 270 about 14 miles past Kawaihae. It has concrete pier with a ladder you just jump in and climb back out.

Anyways where was I? Oh yeah, Mile Marker 4 also has a lot of cool under water topography like caves, an arch and a lot of different kinds of sea life.

If you're lucky, you might see a small reef shark that hangs out in one of the caves from time to time.
