Kona Staycation June 30 to July 13

Honu and dolphins are today’s request. We’ll see if I can deliver the goods. Will post pics later today on Facebook. – If you’re wondering what I’m talking about, I’m on vacation with visiting family for the next week or so.

We’re not interested in spending a fortune, so we’ll be doing Hawaii on the cheap. Yesterday we started out at Kiholo Bay.

Kiholo Bay

The price of admission: Free.  After sitting in the surf to cool off, we then headed up the coast to The Prince Hapuna Beach Hotel for lunch and a stroll down Hapuna Beach afterwards.

Hapuna Beach Hotel

Had lunch at the poolside grill overlooking beach. 3 adults, about $70 with tip. Great food, great view, great company.

Went for long walk down the beach in the surf. The water was bath water warm. It was probably warmer than the heated swimming pool.

Now it’s time to head back to Kona. Stopped off at the Queens Marketplace for ice cream. Got home. Took a nap.

Later, had Chinese food at the Panda place over by Sports Authority. 3 adults, $30.  Good food.

Overall it was a nice day at the beach.

I almost forgot that we stopped off at the big lava tube just north of the airport on the way to Kiholo.
