My name is Sachi, I've been living in Kona since my twenties. I came to visit my grandmother & aunt when my son was just five in 1973, and here I am...still! I've been an artist/coo-coo for Kona since I landed. My family is Sicilian, all artistic many generations back. My cousin Arlene is a fabulous artist in Honokaa, works for Kamehameha Schools, my little brother is Joe Mackee, a mortgage lender/entertainer, retro singer with big bands, and looks like a handsome Matt Damon. I work with a gallery in Waikoloa and sell my original oil paintings reflecting what I see here in the islands, mostly, my Sea Turtle Friends, and anything moving with water in it! I do mostly original art and some reproductions on canvas, and am lately doing some sculptures for bronzing--Hula in motion.
The rest of my family is on the mainland scattered about. I own a little plantation house/studio sanctuary with fluffy pets, dogs and farm environment where I pick and roast my own coffee, and grow herbs and anything I can because... I like it!
Joe Trent's a great guy~ Trust me! Enjoy this site and pass the word around. It's a wonderful little oasis on the web for our Big Island, Kona Friends.
Now if our Military would just start an ECO division, they could go after all the raper's of the land and sea and have plenty of crap to clean up
Sorry Sachi, we only go after people we think have oil that we can take over... but you probably already know that.

2009" Times They Are A Changin' " by: Sachi
Just wondering how Kona Friends is doing these days~ With so much changing on our Big Island, Tourism-50%down, we've been declared a disaster area from the vog, the Gov. is sockin'it to those who can't defend themselves, and is messing around with taxes, I don't like the smell of it. GMO demons like Dow and Monsanto, (from some creepy world where plastic fills up the currents in water, a clean ocean is non-essential, they don't have bees, and filfth in Nature is the norm...), are tormenting organic farmers and anyone who'd like to plant a garden, and save seeds.
I just read a fabulous book, "The Secret Life Of Water", and I will never give up being an activist, and I think Obama has more brains than we take him for...I'm hoping he's letting a few idiots publicly 'hang themselves', like the Chemi-farm manufacturers (Dow, Monsanto, etc), who sent a letter to Michele Obama about how her organic garden, (made their skin crawl), because she wasn't using 'chemicals'. Wow. Perhaps she too is smarter than we think...the bait was set, and they took it, publicly making idiots of themselves.
Now if our Military would just start an ECO division, they could go after all the raper's of the land and sea and have plenty of crap to clean up---and lots of recruits who are pretty angry at the fat old men who've hoarded, intimidated, and fear mongered the youth of today, after almost destroying our earth's environment----in the name of DOMINANCE, POWER, GREED AND SELF IMPORTANCE.
Men like that have short lives, like all of us. No one has the right to impact an entire world, just to fill their pockets with gold. No one... They should be caged, like chimpanzees.
Anyway, there's my 'happy story' for May, 2009. I care about this Island - and this Earth. Sorry if I offended anyone--but I will keep it up anyway. Aloha, Sachi
