Hawaii-Volcano

The above video was shot Saturday July 26th 2008.

To see the lava enter the ocean you have to drive to the end of hi-way 130.

Here's the hot tip: Get here about 4PM. You'll get to park close. Get here later, you'll have to walk an extra mile or more because there is limited parking up close.

This tip alone is worth the price of the Big Island 5 Day Video Tour, which is the whole reason for going to Volcanoes National Park yesterday.

I shot a lot of great footage of lava blasting up in the air which will be in the 5Day DVD.

You know, I've been to the volcano a couple times before but it's been at least 5 or 6 years ago and it was nothing like it is now. The plume of white volcanic gas exiting Halemaumau vent at Kilauea caldera is nothing less than spectacular.

Years ago my son and I hiked miles over the lava flows to see the lava enter the ocean and it was nothing like last night. When he and I went it was good, last night was spectacular.

I spent the day driving all over Volcanoes National Park shooting video of all the cool things to see there. Again I realized I could easily spend a few days here exploring off the beaten path.
