Dee Tidwell

by Dee Blake Tidwell
(Columbia, SC)

I plan to visit Kona for three weeks in January of '09. The goal is multi-dimensional. I will take my Hawaii professional boards. I will look around and begin to plan a move to the Big Island. I had a relationship with a man from Kona. It did not work out, but I fell in love with not just the man, but the dream. He is gone, but I still have a dream to live there. Don't ask me why since I have never been. If I am not sick of it in a few weeks, it will be a go.

I live on the east coast. I have traveled extensively to the Caribbean. I always loved tropical settings. I traveled up and down the east coast for over a year looking for a place to call home. I never found one. I have this very strong gut feeling that my home will be in Kona.

I am a health care professional, so I can work anywhere that I can get a license. I love to garden. Better, I want to buy a very small farm and grow organics. I have many tropical flowers like the Hibiscus at my home here in South Carolina. I have fresh flowers in my vases all year round. I can't wait to get hold of some of those local beauties!

Other than that I love to write. Children's books, novels, short stories and poems. Whatever moves me and pops into my brain. I think Kona will accelerate that. Its about growing as a person. That is what I hope to gain by living in the Kona community. I truly hope that as I take, I will also be able to give back.

I want to thank Bob for creating this web site. I have enjoyed looking around and feeling at home. As a writer, I know the thing you look for in an author is believability. He portrays that. Pretty darn good writer for a mechanic. I will probably have him fix the brakes on my Kona cruiser move than once.
Aloha!

Aloha Dee

Welcome to our ohana in cyber space. Kona is a funny place, I knew I belonged here the first time I drove around the island.

I hope you find what you're searching for Dee. If you do decide to move to Kona, the best place to get info about moving here is the "moving to the big island forum" at Konaweb.com, you can ask questions there and people who have made the move recently give current info. Sometimes they get off topic over there, just take what you can use and leave the rest behind.

All the best,
Joe (aka Bob)
