Chinese New Year Block Party in Kona

January 29th is the first day of the Chinese New Year. This is the Chinese Year of The Dog.
Last year was the Rooster. Don't ask me how it works, something about a sixty year cycle.

Every year Kona has a block party down town on Alii Dr. The road was blocked off from Hulalalai to the pier.
There was tons of great food available. Chinese, barbeque, and local style mixed plate. Umm, ono grinds.

There was 2 different live bands, each on opposite ends of Alii Dr. Arts and crafts booths.

Then of course there was the lion dance.

The party started around 4 and was going strong when we left at 8. There was a lot of people there and a good time was had by all I think.

Also in today's events, the cruise ship Island Princess was here all day. It left just before the party started.
My buddy Ron Ford stopped by the house to talk story for a while today. Eila took some photos of him and I.
Hopefully I'll get them uploaded tomorrow.

So stay tuned for what's happening in Kona... Aloha
