Capt. Beans Dinner Cruise Comes To An End

by Joe
(Kona)

Tamure

Tamure

I heard via the wireless coconut and then read confirmed reports that an end of a era is upon us. No more Capt. Bean Dinner Cruise on the Tamure.

Also known as the "booze cruise" Capt. Beans has been plying the the waters off the Kona coast for over 2 decades.

So take a good look at the Tamure anchored out in Kailua Bay, she won't be there much longer. Snap a photo with the web cam and save to your computer like I did above.

According to WHT the Tamure was the largest catamaran in the world at the time of it's construction.

CAPT BEAN
by: Debbie

My husband and I went on the Capt. Beans Dinner cruise and it was such a great time, Took my children (adult) there in 2009 for Christmas and everyone was looking forward to going out to dinner on the cruise, and they were gone:( We were so disappointed, my husband and I had such a great time before. We wish you would come back, I keep checking on the web to see but so far you are not back.. :(

By to some Kona History
by: Fred Wine

I sailed on the Tamure for a dinner cruise September 1981 . I was one they picked out , and made to put on a Grass Skit and Coconut Boobs , to dance around and entertain the guest . This was a great delight to My Sister , who I had taken with Me ,to Kona . We were both newly divorced and the fun We were having really raised our spirits . In December of that year I came back to Kona to get married .I could not find someone in Kona to marry us , so I took the Minister and His Wife from our church over with us to do the job . We got married by the water by the King Kam Hotel and had our Wedding Party on the Tamure . What fun it was . I made sure the staff took the minister aside and Put the Grass Skirt and Coconut Boobs on Him . He Loved it ,but His Wife was shocked at Him dressed up in Drag . Ha Ha I will Miss the Tamure it was part of my life and Kona History gone By , but I will never forget those happy times . Cheers FRED Wine
