Artist Alan Adams?

I'm looking for information on an artist by the name of Alan Adams who lived in Hawaii in the 1980's. We have just purchased a painting he did of a young Barack Obama. If anyone has info it would be most welcomed. I can forward a photo of the painting if needed.

And I would like to address the issue of President Obama making a comment or even seeing the painting. Our intent is NOT to have this seen by him nor to get him to comment. Our only motivation in even considering the past interviews was to get information on the artist Alan Adams. It would be a great honor to have the president see or comment on the painting, but the chances of that ever happening are pretty darn slim!

We are told in the article that President Obama will not have time to comment. How about five minutes? College students do not routinely commission self portraits. So what was the motivation here?.... for Mr. Adams and for President Obama...? It is not possible that he has forgetten the man, or the circumstances.

Mr Heffner,

I have found a link to a landscape work by an Alan Adams that was previously at auction and wonder if you might wish to connect through the auctioneers to the previous owner to see if the signature matches, it appears that style which is similar to that in the background of the portrait you have may link the two - perhaps they may know more..

I have seen somewhere that he may have also painted works titled "Golden Light", "Morning Haze", "Moonlight" and "Oregon Sunset".
